Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you offer telehealth appointments? 

I exclusively offer telehealth appointments. I am unable to offer in-person appointments at this time. 

  • Do you accept insurance? 

I am currently in-network with Carefirst/BCBS. I am an out of network provider for all other insurance companies. Many insurances reimburse for "out of network" providers and may reimburse you for a significant portion of our appointments. Please follow up with your insurance carrier for more specific information. 

  • What should I expect during appointments? 

The intake appointment will consist of Dr. Smack getting an understanding of your presenting concerns, background information, and treatment goals. Subsequent appointments will be goal-directed. Dr. Smack will check in periodically to assess progress towards goals and to ensure that the client's needs are being met. 


  • How long are therapy sessions?

The initial intake appointment is approximately 60-90 minutes long. Subsequent appointments are typically 50 minutes long. 

  • Do you have a cancellation policy?

Appointments should be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. With the exception of severe illness or an emergency, failure to cancel the appointment will result in a full charge for the missed appointment. Please note that insurance companies typically do not reimburse for late cancellations/no shows.
